The leader of opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has faced several arrests for protests but this time around, his favourite shirt was ripped in the process.
Dr Kizza Besigye was arrested Monday afternoon without charges and transferred from Naggalama police cells to the Kasangati Prison where he spent weeks in the past over charges of treason.
“Violently arrested from home and now just forcefully returned from Naggalama cells to Kasangati Prison (former home),” he tweeted on Monday night.
A video from local television NBS shows Besigye clashing with the police to allow a truck enter his house. He was later dragged into a police van together with other supporters.

“One of my favourite shirts ripped by police goons as they violently arrested me today. No charges & no document given. So, I hold onto APP,” Kizza Besigye tweeted with pictures of the ripped shirt and police document.

Dr Kizza Besigye’s house has been under lock by over a dozen police officers who have barricaded the entrance to prevent him from leaving the house without any surveillance.
This has been the case since the beginning of month when the police denied the request of the opposition group from holding a parallel celebration of the country’s independence anniversary on October 9.
